Hugo & Luigi Sessions
Hugo Peretti ( 1918-1986 ) and Luigi Creatore ( born 1920 ) produced five consecutive albums with Perry during the early 1960s. The well known Hugo & Luigi insignia graced many fine record albums throughout this period and came to be synonymous with imaginative and quality record production, not the least of which included the Como albums. But Hugo and Luigi were well known before their work with Perry. The pair charted three songs before buying Roulette Records in 1956 and later founded Avco Embassy Records. They had written songs under the pseudonym Mark Markwell, and produced records for RCA Victor, including the classic Isley Brothers hit "Shout" ( RCA Victor 7588 ) and Sam Cookes records. Hugo Peretti, with George Weiss and Luigi Creatore, composed the well known Elvis Presley standard "Cant Help Falling in Love," which was recorded by Perry during the sessions for his 1962 album "By Request" LSP-2567 and performed so superbly it's difficult to believe it wasn't written specifically for him. The recordings of Hugo & Luigi rank among the finest popular recordings available from this era.
