Easy. That's an overworked word in the case of Perry Como. He makes the art of singing sound easy. It isn't. It takes training, strength and control among obvious things and, among the not so obvious, it takes magic, spirit and the gift of talent. Making it all appear to be effortless is part of the Como concept and the Como charm. It wears well. It doesn't exhaust the listener. It considers the sensibilities of the audience and it always seems to open a Door of Dreams. Individual, personal, very special dreams. Throughout the years the sincerity of Perry Como and his casual, unhurried approach have remained the same. The Como of Prisoner of Love is the same Como who's on the pop charts today with I Think of You and It's Impossible. In this release the Como charm is covered in a range of ageless songs. Say it Isn't So with a straight piano backing, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes with strings, Far Away Places with its own built-in nostalgia traverse the years of Como sound. I Found a Million Dollar Baby ( In a Five and Ten Cent Store ), It Had to Be You and If I Could Be With You ( One Hour Tonight ) single out the carefree Como. It's The Talk of the Town I Had the Craziest Dream and the title song remind us that Perry Como and good music are never out of date. Maybe that's the reason he goes on and on. Somebody once said that nice guys finish last. Perry Como is the nice guy who has lasted and is still first. Jim Aylward Copyright 1971, RCA Records| Front Cover | Back Cover |
