Notes: ~ ( a.k.a. "Hero" ) Gary Morris had a Country Chart hit with this song on Warner Brothers
and Lou Rawls charted R&B/Popular on Epic. Under the title "Hero" Gladys Night and the Pips
also charted on Columbia. Others renditions were done by Willie Nelson and Sheena Easton on
Columbia and EMI America respectively. Bette Midler sang the song on the 1988 soundtrack
of "Beaches" and had a hit single on Atlantic. The song was a Grammy Awards winner for
Record and Song of the year in 1989.
