A Como Revival: Live In Person | Early 70s | Late 70s |
Perry returned to the "world" stage during the 1970s in more ways than one. It began in Las Vegas with his first "live" performances in more than twenty-five years, followed by a series of successful singles and live tours around the world, most notably within Great Britain and Scotland where he had several hit records and recorded a full length album titled "The Best of British". Perry's "essential" singles from the 1970s may have been low in quantity, compared to the prolific 1950s, but they turned out to be some of the finest ballads of his entire career. One of his finest singles from the decade was one that didn't quite climb the charts, from his 1971 album "I Think of You", a song composed by the team of pianist Eddie Snyder and lyricist Richard Ahlert, and almost autobiographical in nature, titled "My Days of Loving You". Perry recorded another song having the same title later in the 1970s, which was actually an English sub-title for the popular Italian song "Anima Mia", which in itself turned out to be somewhat autobiographical just as "Wind Beneath My Wings" did a decade later. |
