Mountain Greenery ~ 1948 MGM
Notes: ~ This song was performed by Perry and Allyn McLerie in the 1948 musical "Words and Music" referred to as the Rodgers and Hart story. The 1926 composition was originally sung by Sterling Holloway and Bobbie Perkins in the Stage Musical "Garrick Gaieties" for which Frank Crumit ( Victor ) and Roger Wolfe Hahn & His Orchestra ( also for Victor ) had popular recordings. Although Perry independently recorded other songs from the 1948 Hollywood Musical, including "Blue Room" and "With a Song In My Heart", he never made an RCA Victor recording of "Mountain Greenery". This was the last feature film within which he appeared, others including "Something for the Boys" 1944, "Doll Face" 1945 and "If I'm Lucky" 1946. Songs featuring Perry within his films were recorded independently of the record label. Those released by RCA were re-recorded. In addition to this song, another one not recorded was "In the Middle of Nowhere" composed by Jimmy McHugh and Harold Adamson and featured within his 1944 film debut "Something for the Boys". |
