Album Notes | | WARNING: This 24 Bit Mastered Limited Edition is claimed to be higher quality audio than the previously released Japan 20 Bit version initially issued in 1988 and then again in 1998 despite the fact that original first generation masters were not used as the source. For this release, BMG Japan again used a copy of the original 1959 stereo LP master tapes which would have been mixed from the original three-track source first generation masters. While it remains unclear what the real benefit of 24 Bit Mastering might be above and beyond the previous 20 Bit Mastering of these same second generation tapes, the general credibility of Japan BMG releases remains quite high and it can be safely assumed that the quality of these recordings is equally high. It remains to be heard what these recordings might sound like re-mixed and remastered from original three track master tapes. It is unfortunate that these recordings have been released so many times and still not achieve the quality as might be expected had BMG Japan gone the extra mile with original sources. |
