Tracks
differ from the original UK K-Tel Version
This record
compilation is virtually a duplication of the 1975 UK K-Tel compilation
with a few exceptions as noted. Several tracks released by K-Tel in
monaural only are released here in real stereo. This compilation produced
for Quality Records, Canada, appears to have been re-compiled by RCA
Special Products as opposed to having been simply been remastered from the
original K-Tel LP master tapes. The substitution of Perry's 1949 "Ave
Maria" in place of "Dear Hearts and Gentle People" is particularly
odd when one considers its sequencing between two popular songs wildly out
of context. In addition, versions of "Without a Song" and
"Temptation" included here are somewhat less appropriate
than those included within the UK release ten years earlier.
