Perry's first full length album of eight traditional hymns, produced by Charles Grean, was recorded in four sessions between September 24th and November 23rd, 1953. This original album was later expanded in 1956 to included four additional tracks taken from single releases Perry had recorded between 1949 and 1950 and released previously within two 45 RPM Extended Play albums titled "Favorite Songs of Worship" EPA-293, released in 1952 and "Songs of Faith" EPA-410, released in 1953. The expanded album continued on general release for more than two decades. The compact disc released by BMG Special Products in 1999 titled "I Believe" is erroneously thought to be the 1953 compilation. It contains only two hymns from this album plus an alternate take version of "I Believe" conducted by Mitchell Ayres. All tracks within these compilations were recorded and released only in monaural. Electronically reprocessed stereo versions are of dubious quality. |
